After all this building…let’s talk design
I thought it would be possible to write daily or at least often about the progress of this project. But, alas, I was wrong. I thought the 200 one day make overs I did on Discovery with Surprise By Design would have prepared me for the intense build for this show but it didn’t. I’m not sure if it is the competiion of a show that drives us all, or the fact that it is on of those few times designers have no client, no compromise other than money and time I just was not able to write about the process during the process.
So now I will take my time and explain the process. Starting with the end…I wanted a beautiful space, sustainable and green as it could be and still a little edgy. the results tonight, the process tomorrow.

Building this garden with you was an incredible experience. I can’t wait for your posts on designing the space. When someone like you creates such an exciting design, it’s so much fun to implement. I am grateful to be a part of your build team, but I understand and so appreciate the initial work and VISION it takes to make an extraordinary outdoor living space. Your vision is extaordinary; I am so lucky to have worked with you!

Dear Rebecca,
An outstanding job. I will say again, as I did to you opening day, thank you so much for including the “City Dweller” in the garden show. This entry was mesmerizing and once I took the steps into the upper space I found myself bumping into other viewers who were also under the spell of the creation you and the crew assembled.
I told you on Wednesday evening that we all hate you so much – at which point you all gasped – because you put together in two days what the rest of us can’t manage to do in 20 plus years of owning and tending a garden!
Thank you again for putting together the crew who put together this magical and awe inspiring display.

P.S.(And tell Mark he was welcome to borrow the ladder from the storage area for the photographer to use for the shoot. He”ll get that.”)

Thank you both for all the kudos. This was truly a group effort. Susan, you Kelly, Hege and Diane put the the planting over the top. As you know there are a trillion good ideas in the world but it is in the implementation that the idea goes from good to GREAT. I am most proud of the comradery and talented imput that the put this garden in a league of it’s own. Mark Campbell’s leadership, and an unbelievable group of passionate artist, gardeners, craftsman and friends made this happen.
